Saturday Respite Program, A Place to Go and Grow:
This program is designed to provide relief for adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families raising children between the ages of 8 and 14 with traumatic histories of abuse and neglect. By providing parents with a break from the challenges of raising kids with behavioral and emotional issues, family bonds become more permanent and stable.
The PPFC offers many support groups for adoptive, kinship, and guardianship families in the Washington, DC area. Separate groups for parents and teens are also available.
Parent Education and Training Topics:
Topics related to adoption, attachment, trauma, and permanency are offered for parents each month. Parents will learn how to understand their child and manage difficult behaviors while spending time with other parents facing the same challenges.
