A partnership of Adoptions Together and the DC Child and Family Services Agency
For Foster, Adoptive, Guardianship, and Kinship Families
We provide adoption competent, trauma-informed, and attachment based individual and family counseling services for adults and children/youth. Our adoption specialist and permanency experts prepare parents as they navigate the adoption and foster care journey.
Providing support, guidance and information to all who are in the process of achieving (or who have achieved) permanency through the District of Columbia’s Child and Family Services Agency.
Families bonded by kinship care, guardianship and adoption need understanding, encouragement and support as they fill their roles as parents in the lives of their children. The staff at the PPFC understands that adoption and guardianship are a lifelong journey. The need for ongoing mental health support and services does not end when permanency is finalized. When a child has been abused or neglected, there is a greater chance for long term effects on development, behavior and relationships throughout his or her life, which can impact the adoption/guardianship experience. Post permanency services are important to helping build healthy family relationships that last a lifetime.
Services offered by The Post Permanency Family Center include:
- Crisis Support Services
- Family and Individual Counseling
- Support Groups
- Video Counseling
- Case Management and Advocacy
- Saturday Respite Program
- Parent Education and Training Topics
