How Much Does a Home Study Cost?

How much does a home study cost?

Home studies cost between $1,800 and $3,000. Costs vary depending on the type of adoption your family is pursuing, the state in which you reside and how quickly your final report is needed. Domestic adoption home studies, international home studies, foster care adoption home studies and expedited home studies will require different processes reflected in the costs to your family.

Typically, a domestic adoption home study is less expensive than an international adoption home study because of strict regulation governing inter-country adoption.  Other fees that may impact the cost of your home study may include state-mandated adoption training required to complete your adoption home study, administrative fees for background checks and health records as well as reimbursements to your agency or social worker for travel in some situations.
