AdoptionWorks: Older Child and Sibling Group Adoption

We are very pleased that you are considering older child adoption or adoption of a sibling group from within the U.S. foster care system. At any given time, there are thousands of older children waiting for adoption in foster care. Many of those children are part of a sibling group that desperately wants to stay together. AdoptionWorks focuses on placing African American, Hispanic, and Caucasian children, primarily between the ages of nine and seventeen, from foster care into adoptive families.

The AdoptionWorks program focuses on providing families interested in older child adoption with the education, training, support, and counseling necessary to ensure that they are prepared to meet the challenges of older child adoption.

Parenting this population of children can be a challenge, primarily due to the tremendous loss and trauma these children have experienced in such a short span of time. These experiences impact each child deeply and in unique ways, posing the most significant challenge to parents interested in older child adoption.

Through the training and support that we provide, every family is given the tools to parent effectively, with confidence, when they adopt an older child. We can help you determine if older child adoption is indeed the right path for your family. Every step of the way, the AdoptionWorks team will be by your side to support you in your adoption journey.

We invite you to contact us for more information about older children waiting for adoption, or the adoption of sibling groups currently residing in foster care.

RSVP today for one of our information meetings, or take a few moments to watch an introductory presentation about older child adoption.
