Support Groups

The Post Permanency Family Center offers a variety of support groups to meet the needs of the adoption, foster, kinship, and guardianship community in metropolitan Washington DC area and surrounding counties. Open-ended monthly support groups are held at 900 Varnum Street, NE, Washington DC, 20017. During this same time period, separate groups are offered for adults and teens. This group is open to the public, but registration is necessary due to space. Childcare is provided and a light snack is served. Please call 202-626-0206 for information about support group dates and to register. 

From time to time the Post Permanency Family Center offers time-limited topical groups such as Coming of Age, Living in a Transracial Family, and Helping Your Child Heal from a History of Abuse. Look at our newsletter for more information. 
 

Group facilitators are trained mental health professionals with experience in the group process.
